Agricultural Commodity Grader (Poultry Relief)

The duties described are for the full-performance level.
At development grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
The may include, but are not limited to:
Maintains relations with plant management and employees.
Examines products to determine conformance with approved contract specifications.
Monitors the plant and processing operations to assure that the plant remains in compliance with regulations.
Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and records.
You may apply if you are a current AMS employee with career/career conditional tenure in the Competitive Service (You must submit an SF-50 that reflects current employment with AMS and career/career-conditional tenure (Tenure field is 1 or 2); AND status in the competitive service (Position Occupied field is 1).

TIME IN GRADE:
Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
One year at the GS-07 grade level is required for the GS-08.
One year at the GS-08 grade level is required for the GS-09 grade level.
In addition to meeting time in grade, applicant must also meet the below minimum qualifications.
GS-08 Specialized
Experience:
at least one year of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level of the Federal service, performing the following duties:
1) independently grades and/or inspects primary products in the commodity group and performs difficult assignments; 2) performing grading and inspection tasks involved in supplying grading services to producers or agricultural products; 3) inspecting and evaluating processing equipment and procedures; 4) applying grading standards and regulations to make difficult, controversial, and borderline determinations and; 5) providing technical guidance on difficult and controversial grading inspection problems.

OR Education:
possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree in Agriculture, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business, Science or related field; or two full years (36 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR L.

Experience:
at least one year of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-08 level of the Federal service, performing the following duties:
1) making instant grade determinations in a fast pace environment; 2) performing full range grading and inspection tasks involved in supplying grading services to members in commodity specialization; 3) advising industry employees on product quality control methods and; 4) providing technical guidance on grading reviews, appeal determinations, and grading disputes.

OR Education:
possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree in Agriculture, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business, Science or related field; or two full years (36 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
